RESEARCH PROJECT

MITS II - MARINE INTELLIGENT TRANSPORT SYSTEMS II

The project, developed with major industrial and academic partners, aims to develop a new automated control system for electric hull appendices  which is able to:

  1. Increase the comfort of navigation by reducing the transverse/longitudinal motion -induced effectss on crew (roller and pitch);
  2. Facilitate mooring and unmooring manoeuvres by providing improved hull control at lower speeds, leveraging the combined action of all appendages installed to increase the evolutionary capacity of the hull and enable advanced manoeuvres such as sideshifting at the berth or maintaining position and orientation in offshore conditions (Dynamic Positioning). There is also the option of producing an advanced man-machine interface for the system.
